One wall, designed to do everything a family living room asks of it.
The brief was a media wall that held the television without the room becoming a room about a television. The screen sits recessed into oak with a linear fire beneath it, and lit shelving runs the full height either side. The whole piece is made to measure for this wall rather than assembled from standard units, so the proportions belong to the room instead of fighting it.
The lighting is built into the shelves themselves, which is what makes the oak glow rather than the wall behind it. With the fire lit and the shelves on, it becomes the warm end of the room on a winter evening. With everything off in daylight, it reads quietly, as joinery rather than as a feature.
Styled with pieces from our homeware shop, Hakim & Co: fluted amber glass, a fossil marble disc, stone bookends and a pair of hand-thrown vases. Chosen for this room, and meant to be picked up and moved around rather than left untouched.
